Johnny Wactor, known for his role on “General Hospital,” was tragically killed while trying to stop a catalytic converter theft in downtown Los Angeles, his family confirmed Sunday.

The incident took place around 3 a.m. on Saturday near West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street. According to LAPD, Wactor encountered three men attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

Scarlett Wactor, Johnny’s mother, explained to ABC7 that her 37-year-old son had just finished work at a downtown rooftop bar and was walking with a coworker when he saw someone under his car. Mistakenly thinking his car was being towed, he approached to inquire. However, the suspect, who was wearing a mask, opened fire.

The suspects then fled in a vehicle. Emergency responders transported Wactor to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

Wactor played Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital” from 2020 until 2022, appearing in over 160 episodes before his character was written out.
